Nevere

_2021, chalk

Nevere is the name of some constructions that can be found in Ticino, that were filled with ice and snow, in order to preserve food.

This artwork arise form a simple goal: create a sculpture that extends the lifespan of snow.

Some chalk is poured in a bucket filled with snow, insinuating between the snowflakes and creating an alveolar structure. Once the snow is melted, what we’re left with are the casts of the buckets,
that as a shell protect the spongy structure.

In an attempt to create something more resilient than snow, this series of sculptures shares with snow its inherent fragility.
